Fuse reducers allow rejection-style Class R fuses (RK1 and RK5) to be installed in larger fuse-holder clips, effectively downsizing a 60A circuit to 30A protection without replacing the entire fusible disconnect or panelboard. Common in motor circuit downsizing, after-the-fact panel modifications, and industrial maintenance where the disconnect frame size cannot be changed but the protection level must be reduced.
