Item Description
This is a Fike E70-0147 hold down ring, a mounting component for Fike HRD (high rate discharge) suppression containers in the 5 liter and 10 liter sizes. The part label reads "Hold Down Ring, Container, 5 & 10 Liter."
Fike Corporation of Blue Springs, Missouri builds explosion protection systems for combustible dust and vapor hazards. HRD containers hold a pressurized chemical suppressant agent and mount directly to a process vessel, duct or dust collector through a 4 inch ANSI 300 flange. When the system detects the pressure rise of an explosion, a gas cartridge actuator opens the container and injects the agent in milliseconds to suppress the event. Fike lists the 5 liter HRD as E70-028 and the 10 liter HRD as E70-029 in its installation and operation manual E06-018-1.
Hold down hardware keeps the container secured in position so it can take the reaction load of a discharge. Plant maintenance staff and fire protection contractors who service Fike suppression systems use this ring when installing, refurbishing or replacing containers.
