Item Description
This is a bellows seal boot made by The Gardan Mfg. Co., Inc. of New Castle, Pennsylvania, a maker of standard and custom industrial bellows. The stamp on the boot reads MFG. BY The Gardan Mfg. Co. Inc., Box 34, New Castle, PA; Box 34 is the company's post office box, not a part number. The boot carries a handwritten 2 1/2 size mark.
Gardan describes its bellow seal boots, also called rod boot bellows, as protection for cylinder rods, shafts and slides against scoring from chips, dust and abrasive particles, which reduces downtime and extends shaft seal life. The pleated body collapses and extends with the stroke while end sleeves or flanges secure it over the rod and gland. Gardan builds boots to order by inside diameter, outside diameter, extended and collapsed length, in materials including neoprene, Hypalon, silicone, Teflon and weld splash fiberglass.
