Item Description
The ASCO Red-Hat 8223G003 is a 2-way, normally closed solenoid valve built for high-pressure service. Unlike a direct-acting valve, where the coil has to lift the sealing disc against full line pressure, this one uses an internally pilot-operated stainless steel piston: the solenoid opens a small pilot passage and line pressure does the work of stroking the main piston. That design is why a 17-watt coil can control up to 1500 PSI through a 3/8" orifice. It requires a minimum 25 PSI differential to actuate, carries a brass body with 1/2" NPT ports and a 3.2 Cv flow factor, and can be mounted in any position.
This is the shutoff valve that sits downstream of a high-pressure pump. The most common application is car wash equipment, where it gates high-pressure water to a wand or arch on command from the bay controller, but the same construction is used on hydrostatic test stands, washdown headers, compressed air and inert gas panels, pump bypass and recirculation legs, and light-oil circuits. Rated 25–1500 PSI on air/inert gas, water, and light oil, with a 200°F maximum fluid temperature and a NEMA 2, 3, 3S, 4 and 4X watertight enclosure. CSA listed. The 8223 series remains in current production — rebuild kit 302315 and replacement coils are available through ASCO's distributor network.
