Item Description
This is a TB Wood's Sure-Flex Plus No. 6 EPDM coupling sleeve, the flexible insert that sits between two Sure-Flex flanges to join a motor shaft to a driven shaft such as a pump, fan, compressor or gearbox. The molded teeth of the sleeve lock into the flange teeth, and the rubber flexes in four ways to absorb shock, vibration, angular and parallel misalignment and end float without lubrication.
In the Sure-Flex numbering, the leading 6 is the coupling size. Size 6 EPDM sleeves are rated at 585 in-lb of torque and a maximum of 6,000 RPM, with an outside diameter of 3-3/4 inches and an operating range of -30 F to +275 F. TB Wood's offers the sleeve as a solid one-piece (J), a one-piece split (JES) and a two-piece split with retaining ring (E); split versions can be changed without moving the connected equipment. Size 6 EPDM sleeves fit TB Wood's size 6 Sure-Flex flanges.
Maintenance mechanics and millwrights stock these sleeves as a routine wear part for pump and HVAC drive couplings.
