Item Description
This is a worm-gear hose clamp in size No. 88, with a stamped clamping range of 129 to 152 mm (about 5-1/16 to 6 inches). A worm-gear clamp uses a slotted band and a captive screw housing; turning the screw draws the band tight around a hose so that it seals against a barbed or plain fitting, pipe spigot or duct collar.
The number 88 follows the common SAE hose clamp size series, where the size number identifies the diameter range the clamp covers rather than the band length. Clamps in this range are sized for large hoses and ducts, such as radiator and charge-air hoses on trucks and equipment, marine exhaust and intake hose, dust collection and ventilation duct, and suction or discharge hose on pumps.
