Item Description
This is an Agilent Technologies vacuum adapter, part number KAFP400500S, that joins an ISO-KF NW40 flange to a 1/2 inch female NPT pipe thread. The Agilent label describes it as ADAPTER, NW40, 1/2" NPT, FEMALE, S. Distributors cross reference the same part to NW40-150-SP50 and similar KF40 to 1/2 in NPT-F adapters made of 304 stainless steel.
The KF (Klein Flange, also called QF or NW) side seals with a centering ring and elastomer O-ring held by a circumferential clamp, so it can be connected and separated by hand without tools. The threaded side accepts a 1/2 inch male NPT fitting sealed with PTFE tape, which lets a KF vacuum system tie into pipe-threaded gauges, valves, bleed lines or pump ports.
Agilent sells this part through its vacuum products line, formerly Varian Vacuum. Laboratory staff, analytical instrument service engineers, and technicians working on leak detectors, roughing pumps, freeze dryers and coating systems use NW40 to NPT adapters when assembling or modifying vacuum plumbing.
