Item Description
The Conveyor Components Company Model AD is a bin aerator, also called an aeration pad, used to keep dry, finely ground bulk materials flowing out of bins, hoppers and chutes. Conveyor Components Company of Croswell, Michigan builds the AD, and this unit carries U.S. patent 3829022 on its plate.
Fine powders tend to compact in storage, which causes bridging and rat-holing at the discharge. The AD introduces low pressure air through a diffuser backed by steel mesh, restoring the material's ability to flow evenly on a first in, first out basis. Internal stiffeners protect the air compartment from being crushed by the weight of material or by someone stepping on it. The pad mounts inside the bin through a 7/16 inch hole using a 1/8 inch NPT tank nipple and lock nut, and each aerator typically uses about 6.5 cfm at 3 psi from a low pressure blower or regulated plant air.
Cement plants, lime and fly ash handlers, flour mills, feed and grain operations, and chemical and pigment processors install these pads on sloping bin walls, usually in rows on 12 or 15 inch centers near the outlet.
