Omark Industries Taper-Lok drill reamer, part number TLD2040BR4-4, high-speed steel with a threaded shank, carried under NSN 5133-00-113-5159. Omark's Precision Fastening subsidiary built the Taper-Lok tooling line, and the shank is stamped TLD2040 BR-4-4 with lot 597483-4, revision L.
A combination drill-and-ream tool cuts and finishes in one pass the precise tapered hole a Taper-Lok interference-fit fastener requires. Taper-Lok is a real aerospace fastening system: the tapered pin seats into a matched tapered hole under interference, and the joint's fatigue life depends on the bore being held to tolerance with a smooth finish - which is the reamer's entire job.
