A combination drill-and-ream tool cuts and finishes in one pass the precise tapered hole a Taper-Lok interference-fit fastener requires. Taper-Lok is a real aerospace fastening system: the tapered pin seats into a matched tapered hole under interference, and the joint's fatigue life depends on the bore being held to tolerance with a smooth finish - which is the reamer's entire job.
