Cryo-Cut Microtome, American Optical Corporation Model 845, Refrigerated Frozen Section Unit

The American Optical Cryo-Cut is a self-contained refrigerated cryostat that houses a rotary microtome inside a temperature-controlled chamber for cutting frozen tissue sections. The front control panel carries a chamber temperature dial graduated from +30 to -30 degrees C, a power switch, and a defrost control. The cabinet rides on a wheeled base with the compressor and refrigeration system mounted at the rear. Cryostats of this type serve histology and pathology laboratories, Mohs surgical suites, and research settings that need rapid preparation of frozen sections. The chamber includes the knife holder assembly and anti-roll guide. Cosmetically the unit shows light to moderate wear, with surface scratches on the brushed panels and rust and corrosion around the power switch area. It has not been tested or calibrated.
