- Can manufacturer and can model: NOT MARKED - no maker's name, model or part number appears anywhere on these cans
- Stencilled contents marking: DODIC AA16, 1000 CARTRIDGES, 9MM FRANGIBLE
- What DODIC AA16 means: it is a Department of Defense Identification Code for the ammunition, not a can designation. AA16 is "CTG, 9MM, FRANGIBLE, MK254 MOD 0", NSN 1305-01-442-8717.
- Lot numbers stencilled: WMA23K101-031 and WMA21C100-025
- Contract numbers stencilled: N0016420DJN76 and W0016420DJN76
- Interior stamp, verbatim and unidentified: 1S SASC 1918
- Construction: Steel
Spec Basis: verified 2026-09-16 against this record's own photographs. Every marking above is transcribed from the cans themselves. The DODIC AA16 definition is from published US DoD ammunition identification data. These are empty cans; the stencilled cartridge markings describe what they were packed with, not what is in them.
CORRECTIONS - MOST OF THE PREVIOUS ENTRY WAS NOT SUPPORTED BY THE CANS:
- "Designation: AA16 (9mm size)" was wrong in kind. AA16 is the ammunition's DODIC, not a can size or can model. The cans carry no model designation at all.
- "Manufacturer: U.S. Military / Southwest Contracting and Fabrication" - neither name appears on the cans. The record manufacturer field (FID 56) now reads Southwest Contracting and Fabrication; nothing in the photographs confirms or contradicts it, and the two stencilled contract numbers are the only trace of origin present.
- "Exterior dimensions (each, per record): approximately 12 in L x 12 in W x 8 in H" was taken out - "per record" means our own handling figures, which are not a factory specification.
- "Closure: ... rubber gasket seal", "Seal: Airtight and water-resistant" were taken out. No gasket is visible in the photographs and no seal performance has been tested or is published for an unidentified can.
- "Construction: Heavy-gauge steel" was reduced to steel; the gauge is not marked and has not been measured.
- A "Quantity: Pack of 2 cans" line was taken out - quantity does not belong in this field.
