Item Description
This is a Dodge DU-SD-200 Special Duty tapered roller bearing inner unit for a 2 inch shaft. Dodge, now Dodge Industrial, is a major North American maker of mounted bearings and power transmission components, and its Special Duty line is built for heavy radial and thrust loads.
In the Dodge part designation, DU identifies the D unit, the non-expansion inner unit, SD stands for Special Duty, and 200 is the 2 inch shaft size. Dodge builds the same size as the S1U-SD-200 expansion unit and the B1U-SD-200 for a customer supplied housing. Per the Dodge catalog, Special Duty units use duplex tapered roller bearings with case-carburized cones, cups and rollers, mount to the shaft on a tapered adapter sleeve with an adapter nut, and seal with two piston ring seals. The inner units are supplied assembled, adjusted and lubricated so they can be fitted into a split pillow block or flange housing as a complete cartridge.
These units carry shafts on fans, conveyors, crushers, screens, pulp and paper rolls, and other heavy plant equipment. Maintenance crews replace the inner unit without replacing the housing.
