Item Description
This is a Fike E70-0028 baffle plate for 5 and 10 liter HRD suppression containers. Fike Corporation builds chemical explosion suppression systems in which High Rate Discharge (HRD) containers, pressurized with nitrogen and filled with suppressant agent, are mounted on process equipment such as vessels, ducts and collectors. When a sensor detects the start of an explosion, the container opens and floods the vessel with agent.
Because the containers stay pressurized, Fike requires a pressure isolation device before personnel enter or work near the protected equipment. The baffle plate is one of those devices. Per the Fike installation and operation manual, it slides in between the container flange and the mounting flange and blocks the discharge path, so an accidental rupture disc burst vents slowly through a groove in the plate instead of discharging at full rate.
The part is used by plant maintenance staff and fire protection service technicians who inspect, service or relocate Fike HRD containers, and it is sized for the 5 and 10 liter container flanges.
