Finders fee program™

Know where the surplus is? Earn a finder's fee.

Introduce us to a company disposing of surplus equipment we did not know about, and to the person who decides. When we buy, you get paid, and the seller never learns who you are.

Machinery tarped and inbound

What we pay for

A fee is earned when you do both of these. The introduction alone is not paid; the fee is paid when we buy.

  • A new opportunity

A named company with identified surplus equipment it is disposing of, that we did not already know about. Not a category, a region or a rumor.

  • A direct introduction

To the person with authority to decide what happens to the assets. Not a switchboard, a general inbox or staff on the plant floor.

How it works

From a tip to a payment.

  1. 1

    Register first

Send us the opportunity in writing before you disclose the company to anyone at King Surplus by phone or email.

  2. 2

    We acknowledge

Within 2 business days you get your Vendor Number, the date and time we received it, and whether it is already known to us.

  3. 3

    You introduce us

Connect us directly with the decision-maker. From there we handle valuation, negotiation, purchase and removal.

  4. 4

    You get paid

Within 30 days of an executed AssetRecovery™ or AssetMan™ contract.

Finder fees

A fixed success fee on what we pay the seller for the equipment. Below $25,000 a flat fee applies. From $25,000, each rate applies only to the portion inside its band, so the fee always rises with the purchase.

  • What counts

Equipment and other personal property only, before credits. Real estate, leases, taxes, and our own rigging, freight, storage and resale costs are excluded. If we take assets in exchange for removal, only the cash part counts.

  • One fee per opportunity

Several purchases from the same opportunity are added together. We pay on the first and pay the difference within 30 days if a later one moves you into a higher band.

  • Close to a band edge

Within 1% of a band boundary, the higher band applies.

  • Established finders

This is our base schedule for new finders. Finders who bring consistent, qualified deal flow can negotiate enhanced terms.

What does not earn a fee

A lead is something we could not have found ourselves.

  • Names without an introduction

A company name, or a list of names, without a direct introduction to the decision-maker.

  • Rumors and public information

Press reports, market talk, public auctions and listings, bankruptcy filings, receiverships, foreclosures and other public notices.

  • Already known to us

Our existing or former clients, customers, suppliers or jobs, where we hold a dated record from before your registration.

  • Duplicates

An opportunity another finder registered first. We pay one fee per opportunity and never split it.

  • Real estate and your own assets

Real property, leases and lease assignments, or assets you own or control.

Who can be a finder

Anyone with a good lead: business owners, managers and employees, landlords, leasing, rental and crane companies, truck drivers, lawyers, CPAs, bankers, engineers and architects, and non-profits including churches and chambers of commerce.

Many of our finders have become regular partners who see us as a second income stream alongside their own work.

Confidential

Your identity is never shared with the seller without your permission.

Unless you make the introduction yourself, the seller never learns where the lead came from. In return, keep our interest and any prices we discuss confidential.

  • Independent contractor

Finders are independent contractors. You do not quote prices or speak for King Surplus, and you send a W-9 (or W-8BEN) before your first payment.

  • The agreement governs

This page summarizes our Finder's Fee Agreement. Nothing is binding until the agreement is signed by you and by a King Surplus executive.

Become a finder

Tell us who you are, and a real person will call you and send you the Finder's Fee Agreement. Leave the company name out for now; we register it with you first. No AI, no auto-responses.
