Item Description
This is a Danfoss 7773107 belt type crankcase heater rated 65 W at 230 V. The label carries the Danfoss part number, the marking flexelec FCH-50/65W/230V CE, and Made in France.
A crankcase heater wraps around the lower shell of a refrigeration or air conditioning compressor and keeps the oil warm while the compressor is off. Refrigerant migrates to the coldest point in a system and dissolves into cold oil; at the next start the diluted oil foams, which starves the bearings of lubrication and can carry liquid into the compression chamber. Holding the crankcase above the saturation temperature prevents that migration and protects the compressor.
Danfoss lists this heater for its compressor models LT(Z)040-050, MFZ166, LFZ166, MT(Z)044-081, NTZ096-136, SM/SZ084-161, VSH088-117 and VTZ086-121, and marks it CE and UL.
