Item Description
This is a band style compressor crankcase heater, part number 142-840028-024, rated 240 volts and 90 watts, with wire leads and a clamp for mounting around the compressor shell. A crankcase heater keeps the compressor oil sump warmer than the rest of the refrigeration system while the unit is off. That stops liquid refrigerant from migrating into the crankcase and mixing with the oil, which would otherwise cause oil dilution, foaming and liquid slugging at start up and shorten compressor life.
The label carries the codes L216K and CE and a BKR trademark.
